Johann Gottfried von Herder, "Der Cid nach Spanischen Romanzen" (Stuttgart & Tübingen, J. G. Cotta) 1838; the text of Herder's poem embellished throughout with wood-engravings by J. Thompson, F. Branston and other printmakers after Eugen Neureuther. Bound in red at the BM bindery with letterpress titlepage, decorative titlepage by Andrew, Best and Leloir with a landscape view through an arch, and a further title leaf "Der Cid unter Ferdinand dem Grossen" also by Andrew, Best and Leloir, after C.M. Wood-engravings (and etchings?)
