Portrait of Peter the Great, Emperor of Russia; in full-length and frontal view, standing on top of a pedestal decorated with friezes depicting the battles of the Great Northern War, wearing a full body armour and an ermine-trimmed cloak, two putti holding a crown above his head, a banner with maps of various fortresses extending across the background; in the foreground, cannons and cannon balls; in the background, a seascape with ships at war; on either side of the pedestal, large pyramids with portraits of Grand Princes of Russia, indicating the genealogy of Peter the Great. 1717
