'The Night Watch'; a group portrait of the Officers and Men of the Citizens' Militia 'De Kloveniers' from Amsterdam, the Company of Captain Frans Banning Cocq and Lieutenant Willem van Ruytenburgh; night scene with Cocq and Ruytenburgh standing at centre in front of a classical building, both men stepping forward and wearing a sash and their weapons, Ruytenburgh looking at Cocq who makes a hand gesture to the front, other militiamen on either side and behind them some men holding flags, at left one of them pouring powder in the barrel of his musket, some children at left, a drummer at far right; remarque showing of sword hilt in lower right; after Rembrandt. 1797

- After the 1642 group portrait by Rembrandt in the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam, inv.no.C5 (Bredius 410). Probably based on a watercolour dated 1779 after Rembrandt's painting by Jacob Cats.
The paper is damaged along the edges and shows a large tear in top left.
