- According to Milner, this watercolour can be associated with Hearne's 1794 tour of the Wye. There is a later version in the Ashmolean Museum, known as `Bye St. Hereford', dated 1813 (see Barbara Milner, 'Thomas Hearne, 1744-1817: A catalogue of his watercolours and drawings in the British Museum', unpublished typescript (MA report for Courtauld Institute), 1983, no. 37).
