Apollo and the personification of Painting present a portrait of the young Louis XIV (then Dauphin of France) to the personification of France, who is seen kneeling on the right; on the left, several putti symbolising the Arts; in the background, right, a group of dancing figures, and beyond, a sacrifice occuring in a circular temple. 1638/43

- The print has been trimmed and it is not clear whether this is a first state (before the decorative border) or a second state (with border).
The print is part of a group from the Ellis bequest stamped 1859,0514.317. Some have subnumbers also stamped at the back but others, as it is the case here, do not; in which case a subnumber has been temporarily allocated.
