Smith seated before a fire, an expression of surprise and terror on his face, his pigtail stiff with fear; a family of ghosts and animated corpses surrounding him, dressed in mid-eighteenth century fashion, including a husband and wife, several ladies, a servant with a knife and a dog and cat; the second, a man falling over and shouting with terror at the sight of his friend dressed as a ghost, a graveyard beyond; illustration to Cruikshank's "George Cruikshank's Omnibus" (1842)
