- Curator's comments
- The Department possesses 31 plates from Leroy's series. They were published in parts, and were acquired in two tranches: 20 plates from parts I to VII in 1859 (1859,0212.20 to 39), and 11 plates from parts VIII to X in 1860 (1860,1110.57 to 67). The accompanying text was bound and is placed at Oo.7.5. The plates were originally scattered through the series of reproductions of drawings, but were gathered together in 2008 and are now stored in a solander box. The sheets are of very varied sizes, as are the facsimiles themselves, which were taken from the originals in French private collections, and are of remarkable accuracy and quality.
