Curator's comments
This is one of a series of three plates showing Dutch soldiers. The series is attributed by New Hollstein (Hendrick Goltzius) to Jan Muller, although it has not been included in the New Hollstein (The Muller Dynasty, mentioned in vol.II, p.27). For another impression of this plate see 1856,0308.155. For other plates of this series in BM collection see also 1854,0708.39 and 1877,0811.805.
