- This highly finished drawing may have been intended as a standalone image, a possibility also suggested by the early ascription to Pino - an inscription that Andrea Zezza presumes to be a signature. Its date has been tethered to two fairly similar Crucifixions painted in Naples towards the end of Pino's career: by Pierluigi Leone de Castris, with the panel in the Tarragona Chapel in S. Giacomo degli Spagnoli, dated, according to De Dominici, to 1571, and by Zezza with the slightly later picture in the Martignano Chapel in SS. Severino e Sossio, signed 1577.
