"The Deserted Village by Oliver Goldsmith Illustrated by the Etching Club" (London, The Etching Club) 1841; a portfolio containing etched pages (without any letterpress) with a titlepage; a dedication to Prince Albert by the members of the Club; a list of the artists who made the 40 plates of illustrations; 40 sheets with the engraved text that the plates illustrate; and 40 plates of illustrations, each with two vignettes by two different artists, one highly finished, the other in outline: contained in the original portfolio (now much decayed) with a label on the front cover with the title followed by "large paper India proofs before letters"

- This is the first publication of the (Old) Etching Club. For a complete list of the prints giving the artist and the text illustrated, see the acquisition register. The two prints on each plate were allocated separate registration numbers (which include three supplementary numbers with +), making a total of 80 entries for the 40 plates.
