The Venetian ambassadors before Frederick I Barbarossa, after Tintoretto: in the courtyard of a palace, the two ambassadors stand at the top of a flight of steps leading to Barbarossa's throne, and converse with the emperor, who sits on the left; a crowd, which stretches outside the courtyard, attend the scene. c.1720
