- Curator's comments
- Related to the twelfth plate from a series of forty-one (title-page, foreword and thirty-nine illustrations, see 1855,0414.179 for comment on the series). As there is no etched version known for that episode, it is impossible to determine whether this woodcut is a faithful copy or a recomposition of the etched plate, and, while it bears the monogram of Perrissin, Duplessis reckons he and Tortorel merely did the designs which were then transposed on wood or copper by other artists.
