- Curator's comments
- Related to the eighth plate from a series of forty-one (title-page, foreword and thirty-nine illustrations, see 1855,0414.179 for comment on the series). Since no etched version is known for that episode, it is impossible to determine whether this woodcut is a faithful copy or a recomposition of the etched plate. Although the woodcut bears the monogram of Perrissin, Duplessis reckons he and Tortorel only did the designs, which were tranposed to wood or copper by other artists.
