Curator's comments
In 1781 M.C. Ciceri & Cie in Paris advertised that they were responsible for 'la distribution de l'Europe' of Caldwall's print after George Carter of the sea-fight between the Quebec and La Surveillante: they must have dealt directly with Carter as they announced that he had signed impressions to prevent piracy.
