A book containing a treatise in five sections, on proportion, actions and gestures, colour, light and perspectives, with some engraved illustration plates and ornate titlepage; on the titlepage: a central lettered roundel, a smaller roundel with a profile bust portrait of the author Lomazzo above, another with a bust self-portrait of the translator Haydock below, a coat of arms at centre left and right, a figure in each corner; at top left, Juno with a peacock, at top right, Minerva with a dragon, spiders and webs; at bottom left, Prometheus blowing a flame through a stick, and seen again below with the vulture pecking at him; at bottom right, Daedalus, holding dividers, with a bull and the labyrinth, Icarus seen falling above. 1598
