- The painting to which Ford refers is now in the National Gallery, no.1884, as attributed to Schiavone. The attribution was accepted by Richardson. See Phyllis Dearborn Massar in PQ XXII 2005, pp.434-7. The painting is one of three that belong together on the story of Callisto, taken from a cassone. On the basis of this Massar identifies the subject as Callisto hunting, rather than Apollo, as it has usually been described. A similar inscription was found on verso of another impression, sold Bassenge Nov. 2004, lot 5883.
