- Curator's comments
- The statue of the infant Dionysus is currently in the Herzog Anton Ulrich-Museum in Braunschweig (inv. no. A.S. 2). Only the torso is antique. The etching shows the restored statue in reverse, with more thick-set proportions and the head in a slightly different attitude. De Bisschop was both the draughtsman as the engraver of this etching. According to the list of contents and locations, the sculpture was, in De Bisschop's time, in the private collection of Hendrick Scholten in Amsterdam.
