- Curator's comments
- Commemoration a heroic act in trying to keep the peace during the early days of the French Revolution. A copy of the prospectus dated 20.xii.1790 for this print to be engraved by Laurent after Le Barbier is in the BL (R400/14). It was promoted by a society, with a quarter of the profits going to the widows of soldiers. It would be delivered in a year, together with a list of the subscribers, price 24 livres (30 on publication). Subscriptions were taken by Mathieu de Hendolshein, notaire, in the place du Palais Royal.
