- Apparently this is an illustration to the subscriber book of the 'Artisan Fund'.
Originally included in the fourth volume of Balmanno's collection of Stothard's work in BM P&D. See 1849,0721.1 for more information.
An impression of the print included in an album of Stothard prints collected by Westmacott at the Royal Academy of Arts, London is lettered below the image with the artist's name and 'Presented by a member, 1832'. On the verso is letterpress text beginning, "The following Form of a Bequest is respectfully / offered to any person, who may be inclined to leave a / Legacy to the Fund." This is followed by a form of words in favour of the Artists' Benevolent Fund to be added to a will. We are very grateful to Catherine Elwall for providing us with with the above information (via email, December 2015).
