- The related Louvre drawing is Popham 1971, no. 416, pl. 405 and Gnann no. 428

A drawing of a single figure of 'Fortitude' with a sleeping lion is in the Louvre (6437 bis: photo. Gernsheim 6974; Quintavalle, 'Bertoja', fig. 30). This has recently been given to Bertoja by Signora Quintavalle, but in my opinion the traditional attribution to Parmigianino is correct: it seems to belong to about the same period as 1848,1125.13 and may have been made in the same connection. In style 1848,1125.13 may also be compared with the sheet of studies for the 'Moses' and 'Eve' of the Steccata formerly in the Ingram Collection and now in the Metropolitan Museum, New York (62.135 ; Popham, 'Parmigianino', pls. lvi, lvii).
