A beggar in a tall hat and long cloak, standing whole-length slightly turned to left, a beggar woman standing at the door of a cottage in left background, another figure in the doorway; with imitation plate-mark; copy in same direction after an etching probably started by Rembrandt and finished by Jan van Vliet Pen and ink with brown wash

Curator's comments
White+Boon describes the etching after which this drawing was copied as 'the work of van Vliet possibly over an unfinished sketch by Rembrandt'. This is from a group of anonymous drawings after Rembrandt etchings formerly in the collection of the Earl of Aylesford.
