- Curator's comments
- Robert-Dumesnil lists 37 prints by Parrocel in a series of "Études de Soldats" (of which 4 are included here).
The first 12 prints in this album, including title etching "Recueil de Differentes Attitudes de Cavaliers et de Dragons" are inscribed with sequential numbers 1 to 12. These prints are given the publication line "Huquier ex. C.P.R." and titles: "Dragon", "Cavalier", "Tambour de Mousquetaires", "Tambour de Dragons", "Haubois de Dragons", "Cavaliers", "Dragon", "Tambour de Mousquetaires", "Dragon", "Dragon", "Trompette de Cavalerie".
The subsequent prints are inscribed with numbers 1 to 149, with gaps in the series (i.e. missing nos. 22, 23, 24, 83-99, and 137).
The final print in the album is bound not pasted in. It is numbered 81 and inscribed "Ant Van Dyck In v / C sculp."
