- Part of series of 46 engravings (L Nos. 8-53), copied after the Master ES, the Master of the Berlin Passion and others. The present engraving is a copy after the Master of the Berlin Passion (Lehrs No. 21). This impression belongs to a group of prints (1846,0709.22 to 57; 1849,0210.604 and 1853,1210.1 to 6) all illuminated with similar floral decoration and inscribed on the versos in the same hand, that formed part of a Flemish prayer-book, formerly in the possession of the abbey of St Peter in Ghent. See Delbecq sale catalogue, Paris, 1845, pp.11-12; U. Weekes, 2004, p. 123ff.
Three further impressions from the series at the BM have a different provenance and are not coloured. Other prints from the group were bought at the Delbecq sale by Leber and are now in the museum at Orléans (see exhibition catalogue Orléans 2010, nos.10-11).
