Acquisition notes
Laura Aldovini (see her essay in the 'Carteggio' of Luigi Malaspina (Pavia 2014), pp.20-21) has discovered that this famous pax was on offer by Storck in 1816 at the enormous price of 1000 zecchini. The price it fetched in the 1824 Sykes sale was no less enormous.
