- 1 drawing by Augustus Earle and 4 attributed to Dennis Dighton after Earle have been removed from the album: 1845,0405.14.144-148 (they have been mounted Royal). Many of the drawings in this album were engraved in aquatint by E Finden to illustrated the "Journal of a Residence in Chile" and the "Journal of a voyage to Brazil" by the artist, Maria Graham (Lady Callcott), both published in 1824 when she had already written travel diaries for both India and Italy (see below).
The 'Journal of a Voyage to Brazil' has recently been republished in facsimile by Cambrige University Press (2010); there is no modern introduction but it notes for further information on Callcott, see the website on Women's Writing in the British Isles: http://orlando.cambridge.org/public/svPeople?person_id=callma

- Callcott died in 1844, and had evidently presented this print to the BM shortly before his death. Owing to the gap before Carpenter was appointed, it was only registered in 1845.
