Madonna and child; the Virgin sits amongst a landscape under a plam tree, leaning over the sleeping Christ in her lap, her hair plaited and dressed with a veil, and above the two figures, a flying putto pulls down palm branches; scratched letter proof. 1768 Mezzotint with etching

Curator's comments
This painting is also called "Madonna del coniglio" and "Zingarella". According to Wessely, this print is not from the original painting by Correggio, but from a copy supposedly by Ludovico Carracci, in the possession of Robert Udney at the time this print was executed .
