This drawing was issued as a coloured facsimile by the British Museum in 'Reproductions of Drawings by Old Masters in the British Museum', Part III, Published by the Trustees, in 1893 where it was number VIII and described there as 'Carel Dujardin, Portrait of the Artist.'
Label copy 2005:
Dujardin was primarily a painter of Italianate landscapes, influenced by Nicholas Berchem (1620-83), whose pupil he may have been.
