- Description

Copper alloy socketed axe; cast. Oval flare mouth with bevelled rim. Straight sides with crescentic edge and re-curved tips, now blunt. The ends of the broad loop extend onto the body and are connected by a vertical ridge on each face. Thick coat of patination is now flaking. Three haft ribs extend to the rim.

Threre are three Castletown townlands in Meath in Lower Moyfenrath, Lune and Morgallion Baronies, it is not known from which this axe came.
