- Description

Plaquette; waterworn stone pebble, decorated on both surfaces. One side is engraved with a red deer stag facing right. Its tail is engraved with a flake scar depression on the edge of the stone, its nose and antlers overlap the adjacent sides and its legs are continued on to the surface below; due to the shape of the stone this results in their being arranged at right angles to each other. The opposite side is decorated with greater complexity. In addition to the legs belonging to the animal on the obverse surface, there is another cervid, facing right; this is a badly proportioned figure whose body is lost in a mêlée of other animal's legs. There are also two horses, superimposed and facing in opposite directions and, at right angles to these, another incomplete cervid, facing right.
