- Curator's comments
- In 1983-84 the Department of Conservation did a bench excavation of a breccia block dug out by Lartet and Christy. This led to the discovery of eighteen additional decorated pieces: Palart.101, 103-105, 107-109, 114-123 and 129. These pieces are significant in that many are fragments without clear figurative drawings. In the 19th century, such pieces might often have been discarded and, if kept, were not published. Their nature and number suggests that out view of the range and character of decorated pieces may be partial.
