A woman's underskirt, a 'poala'. Made from three rectangular pieces [each c. 48 cms wide] of natural cream tabby woven cotton and hemp (?) cloth, hand sewn into a tube. Top (warp) edge turned and stitched. A band of green cut work, framed with two narrower bands of orange cut work decorate the hem, with faggoting for 9 cms joining the lower part of each seam. White lacework trim, commercially made, stitched to hemline.

- Text from Eth Doc 605: 'A 'poală', an underskirt. From an aunt. Home-produced, spun and woven hemp, 'cînepă'; home-embroidered and open-work. Note: blouses and underskirts were stitched together when worn and taken apart for washing. * Mrs C talking (44 years old); her mother is circa 70 years old.'
