A woman's shirt / chemise; calf length, with long sleeves. Made from natural cream tabby woven cotton cloth (centre front and back made from a single piece of cloth); hand spun and hand woven; machine stitched. Five panels in total, with full weaving width of 29.5 cms. Centre front opening to waistline. Two rectangular cream cotton panels stitched to front top. Small-scale pale yellow and maroon embroidery near opening; red tabby cotton cloth at opening (acts as facing also) and edge of collar, with pale yellow embroidery on top (with brown on collar in addition). Long, straight sleeves set in at right angles. Large-scale counted thread embroidery at sleeve ends: maroon hexagonal motifs with attached hooks within large diamond motif. Maltese cross in centre with four more crosses within diamond 'ground'. Same colours used at hemline; 2.5 cms deep border. Two vertical 'columns' of embroidery 12 cms from hemline at centre back and sides. Some staining, especially on back.
