End panel from a headscarf, rectangular in shape, with very long fringing. Predominantly red, with elongated diamond patterning; worked in tapestry weave, using tones of red, blue, green and gold- and silver-coloured metal-wrapped thread. All four sides edged with red, tabby woven cotton cloth. Right side and right half of top and right half of bottom edge decorated with applied band of cream cotton lace (inner), a couched plaited metal cord (middle) and couched line of black and white glass beads. Very long, thin fringing, made from plied red woollen yarn, stitched to hemline. At top, every two plied threads encased in small brass metal plate with single white bead below.

- Curator's comments
- This is one of two end panels with fringe from a long headscarf, from the Prilep region of southern Macedonia (See Eu1995,04.14.b). For a complete headscarf of this type, with relevent bibliogrpahy, see 2015,8015.1. Apart from embroidery along the edges, the long central section of these headscarves was plain and so if damaged or once fallen out of use, the decorative ends were kept and re-used.
