A pair of woman's socks; mid-calf length. Hand knitted (and hand spun?) in stocking stitch using mainly black woollen yarn. Orange toe. Black and cream diagonal patterning on sole. One schematic floral motif on instep, two smaller, identical ones on the ankle. 'Darned' (embroidered) in white, pink, yellow, blue and green wool yarns. Two vertical cable patterns centre front and back and two thinner cables either side. A line of black zigzags links the main part of the sock to the top, which is knitted with natural cream wool. At the top is a line of openwork and two rows of garter stitch.
