A square embroidered handkerchief. Ground made from fine, natural cream, tabby woven linen (?) cloth. A large stylized floral motif at each corner with smaller repeating square-shaped motifs embroidered around the edge of all four sides. Worked in yellow, blue and brown cotton yarns. Borders finished with a knotted edge, worked in white and two tones of brown cotton yarn.

No label written by donor, however postcard with object (see Eth.Doc.) suggests that the design, technique and colour of the stitchwork on the handkerchief is taken from that traditionally used to decorate the sleeve cuffs of women's blouses from the Dalmatian Highlands, north of Split.
