Zither (autoharp or chorded zither) with flat wood box, with a series of chord bars with dampers fitted over the sound hole, the labels and buttons of celluloid (?), metal strings. Maker's label at top. Three metal stud feet on underside.

- Curator's comments
- The autoharp or chorded zither has a series of chord bars which when dampened mute the strings other than those for the desired chord. Although Zimmermann patented his invention in 1882, a similar instrument was patented at the same time by the German maker Karl August Gütter.
