- Curator's comments
- Text from Eth Doc 1836 (entry 124): Strip of goat's hair rug. It is woven with a hempen base and weft of goat's hair in their natural colours - white, greyish-brown and black. It is woven on a horizontal loom. It consists of two pieces of cloth and is also felted afterwards. As a result of that the fabric is joined at the sides in the form of a sack so that the smooth part remains inside and the tresses remain on the front side to keep in the warmth. It is used for covering the floor or as a bedspread.
End of the C19th.
