- Curator's comments
- In 1962 small excavations at the site of Baghai Khor by R.K Varma (Ghosh, 1965; Varma 1965) revealed a statigraphy in which non-geometric microliths without pottery preceded assemblages which contain both non-geometric and geometric microliths as well as pottery, suggesting Mesolithic to Neolithic transistion (see Cook and Martingell 1994 Chapter II). The thirty two pieces in Carlyle's collection include non-geometric microliths and debitage but it is impossible to determine whether or not these artefacts derive from industries associated with pottery.
