Standing cup; bowl formed of nautilus shell, mounted in silver-gilt, embossed and chased. Shell engraved to imitate scales and shell of a fish. Broad mount on lip engraved with floral scrolls and birds; in front the arms of Riedesel, ass's head caboshed with three ear-like objects issuing from mouth; crests, two wings with same charge; inscribed band joined to base by pierced band of strapwork, in front with caryatid figure; band at back expands into monstrous face with open mouth. Stem formed into mermaid blowing a conch. Foot chased in relief with lobster, frog, etc. Cover heart-shaped, embossed and chased in form of dolphin's head, behind which stands female figure on globe. Maker's mark and hallmark on foot and bowl.
