Table clock with fine Boulle-work case and with grande sonnerie striking.
CASE
Late religieuse style.
Fine Boulle-work: red coloured tortoiseshell inlaid with pewter and brass volutes, tendrils, snakes & stringing and with mother of pearl panels.
Carcass in wood (walnut and fruitwood?).
Caddy top with gilded brass balustrade and eight flame finials.
On gilded brass ball feet.
DIAL
Relief-decorated gilded brass dial. 12 white enamel cartouches for the hours, the minutes numbered from 1 to 60 engraved on the outer ring.
Relief blued-steel hands.
A large cast & chased gilded brass mount underneath the dial, with the muses Erato (left) and Terpsichore (right).
MOVEMENT
8-day movement with grande sonnerie striking.
3 going barrels.
Verge escapement.
Silk suspension pendulum with cycloidal cheeks.
