Large striking lantern clock
Brass cased lantern clock with four ringed columns supporting top and bottom plates. Fixed panels to front and rear, with hinged side panels. Above each door/panel is a pierced and engraved brass fret. Brass sprung bell strap with finial holding bell. Four ball feet to base of each pillar.
Dial and hands
Rectangular brass dial with floral engraving, round silvered chapter ring with engraved and wax-filledroman hour numerals (I-XII), and inner quarter hour track and half hour markers. Single steel hour hand.
Movement:
Brass posted frame. Verge escapement with short pendulum between trains. The going train is at the front of the clock, the striking train to the rear . Count-wheel striking with a axe-shaped hammer.
Each train is rope driven with brass pulley and through a lead doughnut counter-weight. Lead driving weight.
