- Curator's comments
- The Diiva series is mould-blown into metal mesh to achieve the grid pattern on the exterior. Salo initially created the Diiva champagne glass in 2005 in response to a request from champagne enthusiasts Heidi and Jyrli Kilpikari for an exhibition on the theme of champagne, and it led to a whole collection. The series is dishwasher safe and was produced from 2005 to 2007. See K. Koivisto (ed), 'Markku Salo. Cries and whispers', exhibition catalogue, The Finnish Glass Museum, Vammala 2008, pp. 76-77 and p. 191.
