- Known as the 'Finlandia' vase (model 9753/0551), this model was designed by Aalto as part of the 'Eslimoerindens skinnbuxa' series, which won the first prize in a design competition organised by the Karhula-Iittala Glassworks in 1936. It was produced by Karhula Glassworks in 1937 for the Paris World's Fair Exhibition and was produced for some time afterwards. The design moved to Iittala in 1953, but did not enter the production catalogues. Instead, it was produced sporadically in batches for Artek and other customers. The vase in clear glass re-entered Iittala's production catalogues in 1989. For further references to and illustrations of this model, see the following publications:
