- Curator's comments
- This bowl is signed and dated, but would appear to be a rare prototype. The only reference to it is a sketch by Hopea-Untracht in O. Untracht, 'Saara Hopea-Untracht, Life and Work', Werner Söderström Osakeyhtiö, Helsinki, 1988, p. 73. However, this sketch is labelled, 'Saara's sketches for designs never produced', so it would seem that this vase was an experiment, based on this sketch, which was never put into production.
