- Curator's comments
- Zeisel's designs for Schramberg are among her earliest surviving works. At Schramberg she created both shape and patterns, but some of her drawings were adapted by the factory painting department onto existing factory shapes. This tea set is one such example. The pattern is called Gobelin 8. See Pat Moore, 'The Schramberg Years' in Eva Zeisel Times', issue 14/15, October 2003. See also P. Moore in Pat Kirkham (ed), 'Eva Zeisel: Life, Design, and Beauty', San Francisco 2013, pp. 46-51, where this pattern is shown on a shape that is definitely by Zeisel (pp. 46-47).
