- One of a small series of medallions of mythological figures, monarchs, scientists and poets. There is another example in a private collection in New York (in the Paris trade in 1992, notes on file).
The portrait is based on a medal by John Croker, of which there is an example in the Department of Coins and Medals.
The identity of 'C.G.' is unknown.
