A woman's apron (front); mid-calf length, gathered onto a waistband; hand stitched. Made from two equal sized pieces of predominantly red and white chequered tabby cotton cloth (some synthetic), sewn together along the horizontal line. Seam covered with a strip of polychrome crocheted cotton (with synthetic) circular motifs, with tufts of cotton (and synthetic thread) and button at sides and mid-point. Some machine embroidery (leaf motifs and diamond patterning) either side of central strip. Apron gathered onto narow orange/white cotton printed waistband: smocking at the sides, worked in yellow and green cotton yarns. One tie on left side (as worn), with polychrome diamond patterning, worked in cross stitch embroidery, on a cream cotton ground, blue thread loop; round mother-of-pearl button on the opposite side.
