Silver strap end: sub-triangular form terminating in stylised animal mask with coma-shaped ears and split and perforation at other end for attachment to narrow strap by one rivet which is missing; decoration of central panel depicts a contorted animal with head turned over body, lolling tongue, forelegs and lower torso tapering to a knot; plain on reverse; originally probably set against background of black niello inlay.

- Strap end is datable by analogy with finds from datable contexts and its ornament is a variant of the main decorative style of the period, called after a major group of decorated silver items found at Trewhiddle in Cornwall.
