- Zeisel first met Luciano Mancioli, director of the Mancioli factory, at a trade fair in Pittsburgh in January 1957. She subsequently worked at Mancioli from early 1958 until 1960-61, creating a number of prototypes, which were partly put into production as tableware and cook ware, as well as ceramic room dividers. The table ware was called simply 'E' for Eva (see Marina Vignozzi Paszkowski, 'Manifattura Mancioli: dalla maiolica alla porcellana', Milan 1999, p. 34 and note 69). For images of the complete range of shapes, see Vignozzi Paszkowski, p. 34. For examples from the service, in white biscuit porcelain and a variety of glazes and patterns, see Vignozzi Paszkowski pp. 92-102. This bowl, with a different pattern, is illustrated on p. 102, described as a fruit bowl. For other examples of this pattern, a soup tureen, plate and bowl, see pp. 100-101. See also 2000,0107.2.
