Pair of earthenware border tiles, with relief-moulded decoration of forming an interlaced strapwork pattern punctuated by eight-point stars. The pattern in white, with blue, green and rust glazes. Factory backstamp.

- One of a group of tiles based on 13th-14th century Moorish inlaid ceramic mosaic decoration at the Alhambra. See also 1999,3-10,4 and 6; 2001,5-1,1-4. This motif was copied in the cuerda seca technique in the early 16th century; for examples see 1885,5-8,57 and 1885,5-8,68.
